Redruth Town Council has announced a fresh wave of volunteering opportunities designed to strengthen community connections and support essential local services. The council is encouraging residents to get involved with several initiatives that directly benefit people across the town.

The Home Library Service is seeking volunteers to deliver books and a friendly chat to residents who are unable to visit the library themselves. This role is especially valued by older residents and those with mobility challenges.

Digital‑savvy locals can get involved as Digital Support Champions, helping community members build confidence with smartphones, laptops, and online services. Redruth Town Council’s Senior Library Officer said, ‘This support is increasingly vital as more public services move online.’

Environmental volunteers are invited to join the Climate Action Partnership, a collaborative group working on local sustainability projects, from energy awareness to biodiversity initiatives.

For those interested in emergency preparedness, the Redruth Emergency Plan – Citizens Working Group is recruiting residents to help shape community responses to extreme weather, infrastructure issues, and other local risks.

The council is also looking for volunteers to assist with Distributing Publications, ensuring newsletters and community updates reach households across the town.

Finally, with Redruth’s busy events calendar, there are numerous Festival Support Roles available throughout the year, from supporting the set-up to stewarding areas of the event, or even carrying Tolgus, the giant lamb mascot, through the town in the parades!

The town council prides itself on working in the heart of the community, and Redruth’s Town Mayor, Cllr Alison Biscoe, said, ‘by volunteering with us, you can help make a meaningful difference, meet new people, and help keep Redruth thriving.’
