First Phase of Community Centre Regeneration Completed

Projects

Redruth Town Council has successfully secured funding through Cornwall Council’s Community Levelling Up Programme, part of the Good Growth programme delivering the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, to deliver the first phase of regenerating Redruth Community Centre.

This funding was secured through work led by Redruth Town Council, with match funding from both the Town Council and the Redruth Community Association.

‘This is an exciting first phase of the Community Centre regeneration project that has seen a valuable community asset being transformed to support those already using the Community Centre and we hope this will also encourage more new users’ Charlotte Williams, Redruth Town Clerk.

Works included replacing the thermal solar panels for hot water, upgrading the roof’s inverter and battery storage systems, redesigning and refurbishing the toilets, and installing a new hearing loop system in the reception area.

Redruth Youth Council has also expanded their period poverty project to the centre, providing free sanitary products for those who need them.

‘We hope this is the first step in expanding our period poverty campaign to support people throughout Redruth in accessing essential items. We are really proud that this campaign, has grown from the library and civic centre to another building in the Redruth area, and we are keen to seek support in continuing this important project.’ Said a Redruth Youth Council member.

These improvements form part of a wider regeneration programme for Redruth’s Community Centre, which hosts a range of community activities and helps create a more welcoming space for residents and local groups.
